Pre-Apprenticeship Training

Vijay Computer Academy (VCA) offers Data Analyst (Database Technician)Software Application Developer (Tester)Cyber Security Support Technician, Information Technology Specialist (IT Help Desk) pre-apprenticeship live instructor-led online training. All of our pre-apprenticeship programs lead to Registered Apprenticeship programs. 

Candidates are trained prior to hire, in a rigorous instructor-led online setting to ensure they possess the essential high demanded IT skills required to make an immediate contribution.

What is On the Job Training?

  • The hiring of an individual who needs additional training and/or skills to adequately perform the task the new position entails.
  • When combined with a Registered Apprenticeship, a 75% reimbursement rate and up to 640 hours may be approved.

Which Employers are Eligible?

  • You have immediate job openings.
  • You have at least 3 W-2 employees. 
  • The position pays at least $12.00/hour. 
  • You offer on-job-training. 
  • The opening is for 30 hours or more a week.
  • The position a non-seasonal/ permanent position.

Employer Responsibilities:

  • To consider OJT employees as regular employees, entitled to all benefits per employer policy as required by the state or federal law. 
  • Maintain communication with OJT representative with the hiring of the individual, prior to or immediately upon termination of employment. 
  • To provide at least monthly feedback on the employees training progress

How are Employers Reimbursed?

Employers are reimbursed at 75% of hourly wages with a Registered Apprenticeship up to 640 hours by workforce agencies as follows: 

  • Employer providing payroll documentation such as paystubs or payroll summary that summarizes total hours worked and the hourly wage during training period.
  • An evaluation of the participant’s progress according to the training objectives.
  • Reimbursements are done monthly or employer can decide to do them at the end of the training.
